Marthe Muller
Marthe Muller is a 12th generation Afrikaner fortunate to have been nurtured by the mentorship and perspectives of wise African women for over twenty years. After completing degrees in Philosophy and Political Philosophy at Stellenbosch University, she left South Africa in 1984 to pursue graduate studies in Women’s History at Sarah Lawrence College, in Bronxville, New York. She only returned to South Africa in 2000, having made a 12-year detour through Colombia, South America, where she worked in documentary filmmaking and wrote, directed and produced an audio-visual course to teach English to Spanish-speakers. She has been involved with South African Women in Dialogue (SAWID) since 2003, primarily in the role of scribe and historian of the efforts of South African women to become the agents of their own development. Her passion is governance for the growth of souls.

This disregard for nature and disregard for the intrinsic values of all humanity are simply impossible to maintain. It is unsustainable. So, as your world enters into this era of tremendous chaos and destruction and depopulation, it is a time now to plant the seeds that will come in the spring of the new civilization. The winter of your civilization will soon be upon you. You are in late fall and soon you will see a tremendous loss of population. We are not saying it will be next week, or next month, or even next year, but it is eventual. And when this occurs, then there will be a stillness of winter in your civilization, a time of reflection of thoughtful deepening of what to do, how to proceed.

I have been nurtured over many years by widening circles of African women’s collective wisdom, and by the insights of many mothers and many compassionate men. After having recently read Norma Bateson’s excellent article on collective leadership,1 I am deeply aware that I am part of many collectives. I am the youngest of three biological children of a mother who died when I was two, and the seventh child in a subsequent combined family of two widowed parents, who married when I was three. (Later there were more marriages, and more step siblings, but since I was grown up by then, and had moved overseas for 16 years, my mind retains the initial configuration in which I was the youngest of seven, rather than the more accurate reality of 3 additional step-siblings by two subsequent marriages of my father.).

Soy la menor de tres hijos biológicos de una madre que murió cuando yo tenía dos años, y la séptima hija de una familia combinada posterior de dos padres viudos, que se casaron cuando yo tenía tres años. (Más tarde hubo más matrimonios, y más hermanastros, pero como para entonces ya era mayor, y me había trasladado al extranjero durante 16 años, mi mente retiene la configuración inicial en la que yo era el menor de siete, en lugar de la realidad más exacta de tres hermanastros adicionales por dos matrimonios posteriores de mi padre).
