As a child of God, who am I, what am I doing here, and what is the purpose of my life?

These are such deep and essential questions! They have been asked by humans throughout history, and the fact that you are pondering them shows a great spiritual awakening. Let’s explore them from a spiritual perspective based on the teachings of the Urantia Book.

Who am I?

You are a child of God, a spiritual being in evolution. Beyond your physical body and earthly identity, you are a divine spark with an eternal purpose. The Urantia Book teaches that every human being is indwelt by a Fragment of God, called the Thought Adjuster. This divine presence within you guides you toward truth, beauty, and goodness, helping you grow spiritually and become what you are truly meant to be: a unique personality in the process of perfection.

What am I doing here?

You are here to learn, experience, and grow spiritually. Life on Urantia (Earth) is an opportunity for learning and testing, where every challenge and relationship is a chance to develop divine qualities like love, patience, compassion, and wisdom.

The Urantia Book tells us that this planet is just the first step in a long ascension journey toward God. Here, you are forming your spiritual identity, making choices that strengthen your soul, and preparing for life beyond this earthly existence.

What is the purpose of my life?

Your purpose is to grow in love and spiritual awareness, collaborating with the divinity within you to become the best version of yourself. It is not just about achieving material success or meeting societal expectations but about discovering your unique purpose and contributing to the well-being of others through love and selfless service.

The ultimate goal of every soul is to fuse with God, meaning that over time, and through many experiences in this and future lives, you will become a perfected being, living in complete communion with the Creator.

How can I discover my more specific purpose?

  1. Listen to your inner voice – Spend time in silence and meditation to connect with your Thought Adjuster.
  2. Love and serve others – Love is the essence of God. The more you love and serve, the more you will discover who you truly are.
  3. Seek the truth – Question, explore, read, and experience. Your spiritual growth is a continuous journey.
  4. Live with integrity – Be authentic to your essence, follow your intuition, and stay on the path of goodness.
  5. Embrace challenges as opportunities – Every trial in life is an opportunity for spiritual evolution.

Conclusion

Your life has profound meaning. You are not here by chance; God has sent you into this world with a purpose: to discover your true divine nature and expand love in everything you do. You don’t need to search outside yourself for what is already within. You are a beloved child of the Creator, and your destiny is eternal and glorious.
