Cosmic Citizenship

Definition:
Cosmic Citizenship is the conscious recognition that each human being is a valued member of a vast, ordered, and loving universe. It describes the growing awareness and responsibility of individuals who understand their place within the divine family and who choose to live in harmony with universe principles of truth, beauty, goodness, love, and service.

It is citizenship not merely on a planet—but within a cosmic community overseen by divine personalities and guided by universal law.

Spiritual Context:
The Urantia Book teaches that mortals are ascending sons and daughters of God, destined for eternal growth through the universes of space. The Teaching Mission and the Correcting Time emphasize that this identity is meant to be lived now on Urantia—not postponed until after mortal life.

Cosmic Citizenship signifies the awakening of planetary inhabitants to:

  • Their spiritual origin

  • Their eternal destiny

  • Their role in co-creative planetary uplift

  • Their connection to celestial administrators and the Indwelling Spirit

As such, it is both a state of awareness and a call to action.

Characteristics of a Cosmic Citizen:

Cosmic Citizenship in the Correcting Time:
Celestial teachers emphasize that humanity is entering an era where Cosmic Citizenship must be consciously embraced for planetary stabilization. This involves:

  • Moving beyond narrow identities (tribal, national, ideological)

  • Recognizing the shared destiny of all people

  • Developing capacities for empathy, cooperation, and peaceful coexistence

  • Working co-creatively with celestial personalities for global uplift

  • Building sustainable social structures grounded in spiritual values

In this sense, Cosmic Citizenship transforms individuals into active participants in Michael’s plan for Urantia.

  • Equality: They recognize the spiritual equality of every person across the globe.

  • Growth: Cosmic Citizenship fosters continuous intellectual and spiritual advancement.
